But sometimes technical or general issues can interrupt your streaming experience, and probably that’s why you are reading this guide. As the title infers, in this guide, we will try to cover the solutions for the most oftentimes faced issues by the users with their Chromecast Setup.

Troubleshooting the Chromecast setup-

Tip- To solve the issues with your Chromecast device, make sure to connect it to a good internet connection because having a good internet connection almost fixes half of the issues.

Can’t see the icon.

If you can’t see this icon, your device or Chromecast is probably not connected to a network or may have connected to different networks. Your device and Chromecast must connect to the same network to cast a stream. So, if you simply check the connection status of your device and the Chromecast device, you can fix this issue.

Solutions-

·         First, go to the network manager of your device and check the network SSID to which your device is connected.

·         After that, check the lower-left corner of your TV screen. If you see a different SSID or network name, your device and Chromecast are connected to different networks.

·         Now, you've to connect your device to the same network for this; first, reboot your Chromecast device.

·         Then, launch the Google Home application on your device.

·         Tap on the Set up device icon and add your Chromecast device.

In case your device and Chromcast is connected to the same network, but you still can’t see the then, try this method to fix the issue-

·         Plug out your Chromecast device from the HDMI port of the TV.

·         Next, turn its power on by unplugging it into the power supply. After that, wait for some time. Meanwhile, restart your mobile device ( i.e., which you use to manage your Chromecast device).

·         Restart the Chromecast device and connect it again to the TV.

·         Connect your mobile device to an internet connection.

·         Then, go to the Google Home app on your mobile device, click on the Set up Device icon, and add the Chromecast device to see the  icon.

Content never displays on the TV, or the video quality is too low to watch-

The issue can also be the result of poor network quality. Besides this, sometimes, the app’s cache memory can also cause the issue. For example, if you use Netflix to stream your favorite show, clearing the cache memory for Netflix can solve the issue. To do this, follow these instructions-

·         Go to the Setting on the mobile device that you use to cast the content to the TV.

·         Now, click on the Apps and go to the App Manager

·         After that, go to the Apps option and select the app you use to stream the content.

·         Click on the Storage button and tap on “Clear Cache.”

·         Then tap on the “Clear Data” option.

·         Finally, open the app again and try to cast a video on the TV to check the quality.

If you still can’t fix the issue, try power cycling your device and the Chromecast.

However, if you see this issue while playing a video from youtube, the case is a little different. Youtube is a bitrate platform, which means that video starts playing at the low quality but slowly and gradually shifts to high quality. Also, it depends on the original quality of the Youtube video.

No cast device is found-

If you find this error, you need to reinstall the Chromecast device.

·         Power off the Chromecast device, and after that, plug it in again.

·         Connect the USB of your Chromecast into the HDMI port of your TV.

·         Now, open the Google Home app and click on the Add Device option.

·         Then, select your Chromecast device to add it again to see the cast device.

In case the error still persists, then check the operating system on your device and TV. Then, make sure to update both of these devices.

Also, check the router network settings because sometimes Chromecast discovers a device on the network but fails to connect. This can be due to the router or network settings. So-

·         Make sure to disable the AP isolation on your router not to encounter or fix the issue.

Can’t find the Chromecast when trying to link a display or speaker-

This happens because some devices do not support casting technology. For example- some Smart TVs that aren’t Android TVs don’t use the casting technology. So, there can be issues if you try to cast a video or content on that device. However, still, sometimes you can fix the issues by updating the firmware of your device. Therefore, if you see these issues, download the latest firmware version for your speaker or display device and then try to cast something. To update the firmware of your Google Nest, Home speaker, or display, you can follow the following steps.

·         Firstly, make sure that your mobile device is connected to the same network and Google account as the speaker or display.

·         Now, open the Google Home app and select the device.

·         At the top right corner, tap on the Settings icon.

·         Go to the Technical Information and click on Find the cast firmware to see the firmware of your device.

·         After that, if the firmware is outdated, download the latest version of firmware and install it.
